Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
EA Admissions portal for the Nursery & P1 September 2023 intake is open 10th-27th January. Extra open day dates: 11th & 17th January 2023.
It is that time of year again when parents start to think about applying for Nursery and P1 places for the September 2021 intake. Also for some, starting Playgroup is just around the corner! With the current restrictions we were unable have our normal open morning for prospective parents to tour the school.
However, undeterred we set about making a promotional video covering Playgroup, Nursery, The Primary School and Ollie’s Afterschool Care. Capturing even a fraction of all that goes on within our school community would be longer than Ben-Hur! However, in 23 minutes we believe we have provided an insight into what makes Ballymacash Primary special and somewhere that pupils continue to develop, achieve and enjoy. The video link and prospectus are available under Key Information.
If you have her questions about the school or the application process please email sgray447@c2kni.net or ring the school on 02892664244. If you know of other parents not connected to the school, facing the same dilemma, please pass on the video link.
Remember the following key dates:
P1 start September 2021: Children born between 2nd July 2016
On Saturday 16th November the school will be open between 10am-12 noon for prospective parents to talk to staff and tour the school. The whole process of applying for a school place can be very stressful and staff will be available to help. If you are unable to come on 16th, please contact the school for an alternative appointment. Please note applications for pupils starting Nursery and P1 are completed online, between the dates of noon on 7th January and 30th January at midnight. Mr Gray will be running three workshops on Monday 13th January to assist parents filling these in - more details later.
Snow Angels in the Nursery
We had a great chance to put our new play suits through a 'four season' test today as our nursery angels made snow angels during Outdoor Play! It was a thumbs up from everyone and they are hoping for more snow days...though I'm not sure Mr Gray agrees!
The taste of victory was sweet yesterday, as our senior boys' football won the Lisburn & District Primary School League for the 1st time in our history! As a school we always make it through to the finals day playoffs - when the top four schools of the year play a round robin event for the title of Champions. As a school we have been the 'bridesmaid' on eight occasions finishing as runners up in the tournament and so we were delighted this year to have finished the job and especially for Mrs Reid and Miss Ellison (neither of whom slept on Thursday night).
This year the boys played matches against Downshire PS (drawing 1-1 after a last minute Downshire equaliser!) They beat Harmony Hill 1-0 and St Colman's 2-0. Having topped the table of the 22 schools competing in the league since September - they finished the task as undefeated worthy champions. Next 'target' is the double with a cup win in the Spring!
As is now tradition for any team bringing home silverware to the school, the boys are now looking forward to their 'Golden Arches' (McDs) lunch as a special celebratory treat....however apparently the managers think the venue should be upgraded.
