Primary 5 is the begining of a whole new Key Stage for children! We start to become more independent learners and learn how to do research for our many P5 topics. P5 is a year packed with fun activites and challenges.
We start P5 with our Animal project which will see us meet lots of animals at Belfast Zoo. We will also get to meet some animals from the zoo who will travel all the way from Belfast Zoo to Ballymacash...but don't worry, there will be no tigers or elephants! We will get the chance to do lots of research on our favourite animals and hopefully learn a lot from each other.
After Christmas we begin our Northern Ireland topic which will cover many different aspects of Northern Ireland, ending with a project.
The summer term is set aside for our Egyptian topic when we have great fun wrapping each other as mummies, learning an Egyptian dance and dressing up as Ancient Egyptians!
Both P5 classes have special helpers who love our P5 topics.......Mrs Bowden and Mrs Polley's class will be helped by Percy the Penguin who escaped from Belfast Zoo after our very first visit! He saw us when we visited the zoo and thought we would be a fun school to live in for a while! Miss Colhoun & Mrs Lilley's class will be helped by Paddington Bear who met Miss Colhoun on one of her many visits to London! Paddington had got into a bit of bother with the family he was staying with so after talking to Miss Colhoun he posted himself to Room 3 and has been there ever since!
We hope everyone has a great year with us in P5!
