Bags2Go Raises £480!

Thanks to an amazing response from family and friends, through our PTA Bag2School appeal, 1.6 tonnes of items were donated raising an incredible £480 for the school funds.  The 'bag mountain' was loaded into a van this morning by P7 pupils on the first leg of its journey to a depot in Ballyclare, before another lorry takes the items to Eastern Europe for distribution.

Thanks to everyone who helped and please note we will be repeating this appeal in October.

Congratulations to our DELTA-tastic Parents

Each Monday night throughout April, a group of our P1 parents have been meeting in school for a DELTA workshop.  Funded and organised by the SEELB, the parenting course helps to equip parents with the skills necessary to 'Develop Early Learning & Thinking Abilities' (DELTA) in their children.  The course was facilitated by primary one teacher Mrs Allen and Mrs Keevsa Smith, a Primary/Early Years DELTA Project Officer from the SEELB. Topics covered included Learning through Play, Play and Mathematics, Speech and Language and Positive Parenting. For all involved, it was a very worthwhile programme and one we would certainly hope to repeat in the future.

Netball Girls Reach the N.Ireland Finals

For the first time ever, our senior netball team has reached the N. Ireland Finals after beating Harmony Hill Primary School 7 - 5.  Both sides won their area leagues, they met to play off last Thursday in the Leisureplex to see who would represent the Lisburn District in the N. Ireland finals for the SEELB.

The standard of netball was very high and both sides were evenly matched with the half time score tied at 2-2.  However in a nail-biting second half Ballymacash stepped up a gear with excellent goal defense work from Lydia and goal shooting from Grace and Courtney.

The winning team!

Rebecca, Lydia, Shannon, Jessica, India, Grace, Kayla, Courtney, Rebecca

The Northern Ireland finals will be played sometime in June.

Dates and times are to be confirmed.

Stationery Shop opens for business....

On Tuesday 15th April 2008 the first customers queued to purchase items from our new stationery shop.  They are pictured here with the two P7 volunteers from the Pupil Council who are in charge of running the shop, ordering and keeping stock of all the items sold.

The shop is open every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8.40am until 8.55am in the P3/4 area, selling necessary items at a VERY reasonable and competitive rate.

It was a great success on opening morning and there were some disappointed pupils who were still waiting patiently when the bell rang signalling "shop shut" -we look forward to seeing you first in line on Thursday morning!!

(Details of items and prices are on posters displayed around the school)
