STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

At Ballymacash Playgroup our aims for your child are, to:-

  • Be happy & contented in playgroup setting

  • Enjoy activities & have fun taking part

  • Learn new experiences

  • Become independent

  • Respect other children & staff 

 

ETHOS

Is to provide a safe and happy environment where your child may play, have fun and at the same time be encouraged and helped by trained staff to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

 

ADMISSIONS POLICY

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area. (policy 5)

Children can join us when they are 2years 10months. We are registered with Social Services to cater for a maximum of 24children per session

 

HOURS OF OPENING

Playgroup is open every morning Monday -Friday

Each session 9.00am-11.30am

CHARGES & FEES

Each session is £10.00 paid in advance. Payment is still required at full rate and to the end of the summer school term, even if you take any holidays/absence due to illness, during term dates. A contract is signed on your child’s first day.

 

REGISTRATION & INSURANCE INFO

One off registration £20.00 includes administration costs, Early Years Membership  and insurance cover with Lockton Insurance through Allianz.

 

ROLES OF PARENTS, INCLUDING PARTICIPATION ON THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OR VOLUNTEERS

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy26). Parents can be involved on a voluntary basis as part of the Playgroup Committee.Vetting process & Access NI protocols required if parents are in direct contact with children.

 

POLICIES ON SAFEGUARDING & BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy31 & 18). All parents/carers receive a copy with the welcome pack on their child’s first day. Designated Officers are clearly displayed on the reception information board and made aware of this on their child's first day. Staff all hold safeguarding certificates as per the Minimum Standards and are kept up to date with any new legislation. 

 

POLICY ON EXCLUDING CHILDREN FROM THE SETTING

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy18). Included in the Managing Aggression and Challenging Behaviour- including Bullying Policy which all parents/carers receive a copy with the welcome pack on their child’s first day.

 

COMPLAINTS POLICY

All parents/carers receive a copy with the welcome pack on their child’s first day. We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy 8).

 

HOW TO ACCESS THE OTHER POLICIES WITHIN THE SETTING &

WHAT THEY ARE

A reception copy of all the policies & procedures are always available for parents to view and copies are available upon request. Parents/carers are made aware of this on their child’s first day and will be made aware of any updates throughout the year.

 

INFORMATION ABOUT ACTIVITIES PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN

Parents/carers are made aware of the monthly themes through the open mornings, termly newsletters & daily information white board. 

 

INFORMATION ON HOW CHILDREN WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS ARE ACCOMMODATED WITHIN THE SETTING

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy 4).

 

RANGE OF RESOURCES

We have policies available for parents/carers in our reception area (policy 17).

 

DEPLOYMENT OF STAFF

All staff have core roles & responsibilities and are adaptable as circumstances to playgroup  require, the leader will delegate accordingly.

 

ACTIVITIES PROVIDED

The monthly theme incorporates the 6 areas of learning based on the CEA guidance of pre-school education.

  1. Personal, Social & Emotional Development

  2. Physical Development & Movement

  3. Language Development

  4. Early Mathematical Experiences

  5. The Arts

  6. The World Around Us

 

Play is an important part of growth and development in each child. It enables them to learn about themselves and their world. We have a child led approach where the children can choose for themselves- learning skills, becoming independent and moving forward at their own pace. They can experience creative, imaginative, manipulative, exploratory, physical & social play under the guidance of our staff who will be there to support and encourage them.

 

INSPECTION ROLE OF HSC TRUST EARLY YEARS TEAM

Ballymacash Playgroup are inspected annually on one of these areas :

  • Quality of Care

  • Quality of Staffing, Management & Leadership

  • Quality of Physical Environment

  • Quality of Monitoring & Evaluation

 

RECORDING PRACTISE & ACCESS TO THESE RECORDS BY HSC TRUST

Ballymacash adhere to & aim to exceed the levels set out in the legislation of the Minimum Standards. A social worker may contact you for information on your experiences and partnership with the playgroup prior to the annual inspection requesting feedback. If there are any recommendations, these will be dealt with immediately. A final report is made available for parents/carers.
