About Us
A new purpose built Nursery Unit opened in the school in September 2001. This spacious and well-equipped Unit caters for 52 children (26 morning & 26 afternoon).

The Nursery Unit is an integral part of our school where in a recent inspection the ‘excellent’ teaching and the ‘very good behaviour’ of the children were highlighted. Almost all of the pupils attending the Nursery Unit transfer to primary one, therefore their familiarity with the staff and buildings, combined with friendships developed over the nursery year, result in a smoother transition.
The Nursery Teacher is Mrs. J. Orr and the Nursery Assistant is Mrs Champion. As a staff they aim to:
- Provide a safe, secure and healthy environment where children can flourish as individuals and learn also to be part of a group.
- Stimulate the children’s minds in all areas of the preschool curriculum to encourage an openness and willingness to achieve their full potential.
- Provide an environment where parents and nursery staff can work together as a team to enable the children to progress happily from home to school.
We are happy to show prospective parents and children around our new Nursery at any time of the year. Visits can be arranged by contacting the school and we also have a Nursery Unit Handbook available.
